Welcome

I want to see you set free from the shackles on your mind

Many people including Christians are experiencing a meltdown of the mind that is rooted in thinking patterns that actually produce the problems they experience in their lives. Proverbs 23:7 reminds us, “For as he thinketh in his heart so is he…” These thought patterns are the strongholds in which we are held in bondage due to a certain way of thinking. But the Lord has called us to be changed, “Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind”, Romans 12:2.

The purpose of my book is three fold in nature, “Take the Shackles off Your Mind”, by the, “Renewing of Your Mind”, to, “Live an Abundant Life.” The premise of my book is, If The Enemy Can Control Your Mind, He Can Control You." You will understand how and why the strongest chains are not those that are wrapped around the body, but those that are wrapped around the mind. Many today do not fully understand how powerful the human mind is. My work entails why a vast number of people including Christians are experiencing a mental breakdown of the mind. These breakdowns consist of negative thinking patterns and in destructive behavior. Thus I reach out to the Christian Community with an emotional appeal to those who have shackles on their mind that hinder them in their walk with God and in their personal relationships.

I want to see you set free from the shackles on your mind. This is why I have labored tirelessly and indefatigably to write this book. I want to engage the reader to think about their mind and what are the shackles you need to be set free from. I want you to think succinctly about what negative, worldly and destructive thinking patterns have sabotaged your life and the lives of others. You will begin to look inward to intrinsically think about how the shackles of , Negative Thinking, Doubt and Fear, Addiction, Obsession, and Bad Habits, Depression, Dysfunctional Relationships, Obesity, Un-Forgiveness, and finally Financial Bondage have affected your life.

Comparative Analysis

The books that my work closely compares with that are similar in nature are; “The Battlefield of the Mind” Author – Joyce Meyer; “Renewing the Mind” Author – Casey Treat; “Free at Last” Author – Tony Evans. Author Noel Jones, “The Battle for the Mind”

The four authors discuss experiencing liberation and deliverance in winning the battle of the mind. Clearly they cover a spectrum of behaviors, attitudes, dysfunctional thinking patterns and as to why people are losing the war of the mind. Each in their own unique way take the reader on a journey of the battle within that we all face. That battle is the control of the mind. Each discusses how the enemy desires to control, manipulate, and deceive through the mind. Each author also articulates why the mind is the central entity whereby the forces of good and evil wage war. Spiritual warfare is at the forefront of the battle within that each write about.

What differentiates my body of work from that of my comparative authors is that I go into great detail covering a wide range of subjects that affect most people including Christians. I take the reader behind the scenes as to why and how people succumb to Negative Thinking, Doubt and Fear, Addiction, Obsession, and Bad Habits, Depression, Dysfunctional Relationships, Obesity, Un-Forgiveness, and finally Financial Bondage. With each individual “Shackle”, I write about the affect it has on individuals, families, relationships and society. In addition, I share with the reader my own personal struggles and triumphs over the shackles in my life. My lessons learned from taking the shackles off my mind are very intimate and real. With each shackle I show the reader how I was delivered and how through each phase of the process I learned how to renew my mind to the Word of God. Their books give you only part of the picture. I take you through the harsh realities of how shackles can and will affect lives. For deliverance from each shackle I place a heavy emphasis on, “Renewing the Mind.”

My work is very unique because I have overcome many personals struggles that I write about. In the midst of great pain, tragedy, loss and failure, I am a testament that with God, “All things are possible.” I share so intimately with the reader the state of my carnal mind and how Satan kept me shackled. Gratefully, I share how I fought back and battled back through each shackle and how turning to God you can be victorious and win the war of your mind. To make my point I use stories from the Bible, scenarios, current events and my personal experiences.

I strike a sensitive cord and hit a nerve with the Christian community by giving it a wake up call because the church has been lax in addressing the issues that affect the clergy and laity alike.. I also suggest the role of the church to help its members overcome their individual shackles. At the end of each chapter I give the reader some viable tools and resources to engage them to overcome their shackles on their mind. I believe the reader will take heed to what I am writing about so they too can live an abundant life.

I make myself very transparent to give the reader a glimpse of my emotions, feelings, destructive behavior and state of my mind when I was living shackles on my mind. My personal tragedies and victories give the reader hope, faith, power and God’s grace to break the yoke of bondage.

What Is The Mind?

The Mind of Man is the most mysterious and complex entity of our being. It is also the most misunderstood, used and abused gift given to man by God. Man has longed to comprehend and understand the workings of the mind. Over the course of human history, much has been written, researched and talked about concerning the mind. Great thinkers have sat and debated the mind. Science and religion have also debated the workings of the mind. Science seeks to study the mind from experimentation and empirical analysis such as classical conditioning where data is collected, analyzed, and quantified. It also seeks to modify behavior through talk therapy by unlocking the sub-consciousness mind and to alter thinking patterns. Religion on the other hand, seeks to study the mind from a faith-based connection to that of the Creator. A lasting relationship emerges and lives are transformed by a renewing of the mind to the Word of God. Believers then begin to emulate the life of Christ.

The duality of man is a fact that we are created both spiritual and physical. We are hardwired both as physical and spiritual beings. The spiritual is related to that of the Creator which He bestowed upon man a spirit whereby he is able to commune with his Creator. When man manifests this spiritual capacity to its utmost, the world is elevated and becomes a better place. And man is also a physical being created of organisms, cells, flesh and bone. Thus man merely sees himself as an extension of the physical world. We are therefore called upon to view our existence as both independent and interdependent with the rest of nature. Physically, we possess a commonality with all other creatures; spiritually we soar far and above because of the capacity of man's superior spiritual mind. When we ignore our own spirituality, we sink below them all. This is the great paradox of man.

I owe it to you, if there is going to be any understanding of the mind, if there is going to be a renewing of the mind, if there is going to be an un-shackling of the mind, it is knowing how the mind functions from these two perspectives. It is intended to point the way toward reflective thinking and self-understanding.

Napoleon Hill, the Founder of “The Science Of Success”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I do not know how or when I came across Napoleon Hill’s writings. Perhaps it was fate or divine intervention and purpose. Like I said, this book is God inspired. However, this one particular quote was a good fit in what I wanted to convey to the reader. It also piqued my mind. I could honestly relate to what Mr. Hill was saying. I reference Napoleon Hill's quote throughout the book to draw an analogy between shackles on the mind and the self imposed limitation people set up in their mind.

It was Napoleon Hill, the Founder of “The Science Of Success”, of who caught my attention when he said; “Most people condemn themselves to prison all their lives despite the fact that they carry the keys to their prison without knowing they possess them. The prison consists in the self-imposed limitations they set up in their minds, or permit others to set for them. The keys consist in the power everyone has been given by the Creator to take full possession of the mind and to direct it to the solution of all problems, the accomplishment of all desired ends.” Allow me to add to Hill’s thought provoking quote. I will conclude that the strongest chains are not those that are wrapped around the body, but those that are wrapped around the mind.

Napoleon Hill hit the nail on the head when he proclaimed, “the prison consist in the self-imposed limitations they set up in their minds.” What Napoleon Hill called “prison”, I refer to as shackles. Imagine iron shackles on the mind. Literally, there are people who of there own condemnations are imprisoned. Many folk today are trapped in their self imposed prison. They are imprisoned by what they think and believe about themselves and the world around them. Figuratively speaking, there are people living with shackles on their mind. They are the suburban housewife hooked on prescription drugs, the assembly line worker with a gambling habit so bad he cannot retire, the college student so depressed he flunks out of school, the manager fired because he was caught on the job surfing pornographic web sites, the brother and sister who have not spoken for years because of a falling out and an overweight school teacher is in and out of the hospital because of obesity related illnesses. They are also the people who sing in the church choir, serve on the leadership and advisory board, teach Sunday school, are a missionary and an officer in the church; they even preach in the Lord’s pulpits every Sunday morning proclaiming that Jesus is Lord. These are the people with shackles on the mind.

A shackled mind is enslaved to unrealistic fears, destructive behavior and negative thoughts. A shackled mind is held hostage by depression, addictions, attachments, obsessions, guilt, un-forgiveness and sin. However, an unshackled renewed mind releases negative and defeating behavior, creates sound decision-making. It promotes behaviors and thinking patterns that sustain success and releases past hurts. In our present age the prevailing winds tell us that far too many people are living with shackles on their minds.
